The girl, Binny (Shruti Haasan) is bubbly and spirited. But he's never managed to muster up the courage to pursue his romantic ambition. The boy, Gattu (Rajkummar Rao) loves the girl since they were kids. In true genre fashion, the story is based around a boy and girl.

The movie retains a level of emotional intelligence, but in the midst of its uninspiring screenplay, it stays perfectly average. The film plays out like a run-of-the-mill comedy of errors. While its a decent premise for a comedy, the film just doesn't do anything of value with the thought. Its setup in the more orthodox environs of Lucknow to allow the Bhai-Behen connection seem more relatable. Behen Hogi Teri is a film based on this idea. Where boys used to get converted into brothers and not lovers. Like modern day's friendzone, this thought used to be called bhaizone. Quick take: Perfectly average romantic comedyīack in school, every boy lives in dread of the thought, where his crush comes over to tie a rakhi. So even if you decide to skip this film, it is completely fine because the major drawback lies in the story telling and the subject.Cast: Rajkumar Rao, Shruti Haasan, Gautam Gulati, Gulshan Grover, Ranjeet, Kamlesh Gill, Darshan Jariwala, Ninad Kamat, Mrunal Jain, Herry Tangri, Reena Aggarwal. Rajkummar is the only person to watch in the film and if it has not been Shruti as his co-star, it would have been a good watch.

To be fair about this film, it lacks the essential story-line and a little more homework about the subject should have made it much better. The entire film focuses in proving that "Mohalle ki saari ladkiyaan maa aur behen hoti hai" (every woman in the locality is either your mother or your sister). The director Ajay K Pannalal must have taken into mind the usual stereotypes of the society before making this film like the general depiction of middleclass families so that it turned out to be a watchable one. 'Behen Hogi Teri' lacks the required plot and the fun element which was expected. "Ye bhai banane ka kya chakkar hai?" Though he may be a bad lover, but Gattu is not the typical stalker which is often showed in Hindi cinemas. The film solely is a one-man show with the boy celebrating his pesky heart break but somehow gathers courage to mouth dialogues like "Koi ladka pyaar karta hai, nahi pasand to mana karo". Gautam Gulati as the stylish NRI is just okay.Īs the title sounds sexy, the film does not live up to its title. Harry Tangiri and Gulshan Grover's acting looks jarring in some of the frames. Her portrayal of a Punjabi girl fails and looks misfit. However it is Shruti who somewhere does not live up to her character. His portrayal of an innocent Gattu makes the film a breezy watch. Talking about Rajkummar Rao, this National award winning actor is at his best as always.

Binny then gets engaged to NRI Rahul (Gautam Gulati) and Gattu- the silent lover and an innocent boy watches her getting engaged without uttering a single word about his love and affection towards Binny. Twist in the tale comes when Gattu's father (Darshan Jariwala) spots Binny with Bhura (Harry Tangri) and one confusion leads to another. Finally after all the jazz and many hard-core tasks, Gattu becomes successful in winning Binny's heart and there is an instant romance in between the duo. But as the myth goes, like every other boy in the surrounding, Gattu is considered as Binny's brother.

This becomes a plus point when it comes to romance. Gattu loves Binny since her childhood days and even their houses are opposite each other. Gattu (Rajkummar Rao) is in head-over-heels love with Binny (Shruti Haasan) who is his neighbour. Ajay K Pannalal's 'Behen Hogi Teri' revolves around the same plot.
