To install Neovim use the favorite package manager of your operative system of choice. Neovim, just like Vim, is supported in many operative systems. You can find out more information about Neovim at neovim.io.

For instance, features like the integrated terminal or async processing were added to Vim after they were available in Neovim. Moreover, the mere existence of Neovim as a competitor to Vim is something healthy for the community as a whole. Finally, its more sensible defaults make it a more approachable editor than the original Vim. Its focus in a great user experience has brought cool new features to Vim like virtual lines with in-editor messages just as what you have come to expect from modern text editors. Its headless mode allows GUI applications (like Visual Studio Code or Oni) to consume Vim as a service. Neovim is indeed still very active, healthy and pushing the boundaries: Its support for external plugins written in JavaScript through node.js is a great boon to create an even more inclusive community of plugin writers. Vim 8 later caught up with support for asynchronous processing and an integrated terminal but Neovim still remains very relevant. It's main innovation over traditional Vim was that it supported asynchronous processing, an integrated terminal and external plugins.

Neovim is a modern fork of Vim that aims to refactor Vim and make it more maintainable, extensible and easier to contribute to by a wider community. This will result in faster command execution and the addition of a slew of useful commands to your VSCodeVim arsenal. When you integrate both editors, VSCodeVim will use Neovim to execute all Command-line mode commands. One final way to enhance your VSCodeVim experience is by integrating it with Neovim, the modern fork of Vim. Both irritating but nothing that'll destroy your computer. The most nefarious things I've seen it do is show error messages or fail to do what I've ordered it to do. It may, at times, result in unexpected behavior. This is an experimental feature in VSCodeVim.
